The Hate Toward Ubuntu Feels Elitist and Misguided
A little over 15 years ago, I nearly bricked my first Android phone by rooting it and uninstalling a required system app. I’m the type of person who, if I have to pay someone to fix a problem I caused, would rather learn to fix it myself — so I asked the guy who bailed me out where to start. He pointed me to a few forums — XDA Developers and Android Central. That was my gateway into the world of Linux.

Using Your Local Library to Build You Movie and/or TV Show Collection
When online streaming services first became popular, they were a game-changer and affordable way to access a wide variety of movies and tv shows. However, as time went on, many people found themselves subscribing to multiple services just to access all the content they wanted to watch. This can quickly become expensive and overwhelming and defeated the purpose of cutting the cord in the first place. The biggest drawback of streaming services is the buying of content in that if the service decides to remove or lose the rights to a movie or tv show, it can disappear from the platform without warning. This can be frustrating for viewers who may have been looking forward to watching a particular title, only to find out that it’s no longer available. Additionally, streaming services often have a rotating selection of content, which means that even if a movie or tv show is currently available, it may not be there for long. This can make it difficult for viewers to keep track of what they want to watch and when it’s available.

Every since the Steam Deck launched, I’ve seen a resurgence of people asking what the best Linux distro for me? And for some reason people seem to think that they have the authority to recommend what the best distro is for new users. The reality is that no seasoned Linux user can truly know what the best distro is for a new user. The true is that most of us got into Linux when not everything worked out of the box or polished. We had to tinker, troubleshoot, and learn a lot about how Linux works to get things working the way we wanted. And the true about what we went through was not what we where looking for at the time. We wanted a system that just worked, but for some reason stuck with anyways and learned along the way. In general that is not what most people want in the first place.

My View on the JLab Mechanical Keyboard
Image: JLab Mechanical Keyboard - Image Credit: Michael Schaecher * Being a part-time tech enthusiast and a full-time poor working man, I often find myself torn between wanting the latest gadgets and sticking to a budget. This comes into sharp when I came to enhancing my home work space: I offend find myself buying off-brand or budget versions of popular tech products. In most cases this works out fine, but sometimes you get what you pay for especially when it comes to the fly by night companies that pop up on Amazon or eBay.
